Roulettly is a random video chat for adults aged 18 and over, and every match can be reported in one tap. Nudity detection watches your own camera and sends explicit content straight to our moderation team, which also reviews every report. Conversations are not recorded: video goes through an encrypted relay, and moderation only ever covers each person's own camera.

Roulettly is reserved for adults aged 18 and over. Before your first call you confirm that you are 18 or over: on the website it is a box to tick next to the Start button, in the Android app a confirmation step.
Reports naming a minor are handled as a priority. Our child safety standards explain how we act on them, including reporting to the authorities.
Report and block, on every match
Every match has a Report button, free for everyone. You choose a reason, a few images of what your screen shows at that moment (three at most) are attached, and the report goes to our moderation team. When a report is upheld, the account is banned.
Next ends a conversation at once. Blocking means you will not be matched with that person again: it is free in the Android app, and on the website it is part of Premium, for 1 hour, 1 day, 2 days, 7 days or for good.
Nudity detection in the browser
An automatic filter analyses the image of your own camera. On the website, it runs in your browser, on your device. In the Android app, a small image of your camera is analysed in memory on our server every few seconds.
If explicit content is detected, it goes straight to our moderation team, which reviews it and can ban the account. An ordinary image is never kept: only a clear detection is, the few images leading up to it, shown to moderation only.
An encrypted relay, and the moderation exception
Every call goes through a relay on our own server, with the WebRTC standard. The stream stays encrypted end to end: the relay forwards encrypted packets without being able to read or store them, and the other person never receives your IP address, only the relay's.
Moderation is the only exception, and it only ever covers your own camera, never the person you are talking to: the images attached to a report or kept after a detection and, on the website, for an account already reported and awaiting a decision, a short recording of its own camera with sound. They are shown to moderation only. Images kept after a report or a detection, and moderation recordings, are deleted as soon as a decision is made, and automatically after 14 days at the latest; only the images of an account reported to the authorities are kept for 90 days.
What is not recorded
The conversation itself, picture and sound, is neither recorded nor kept, and the relay forwards it without storing it. No account is needed, so we ask for no email address, no phone number and no name.
The other person sees your video, your sound, your nickname if you set one, the gender you chose and your country's flag, never your email address. The privacy policy lists everything that is processed, and for how long.
Scams and blackmail: what to do
Some people use video chats to record a stranger and then demand money: this is sextortion. Do not undress on camera, never pay and do not send anything more, because paying rarely ends the demands.
Stop the conversation, report the person on Roulettly and keep evidence: screenshots, nicknames, payment details you were asked for. Then get help: Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr in France, ReportFraud.ftc.gov (FTC) in the United States. The UK's NCSC also explains how to use video services securely.

No video chat with strangers is risk-free, so keep personal details to yourself and leave any conversation that makes you uneasy.
