The Next button is on screen during every call. Press it and you are back in the search, without having to explain anything or wait for a polite moment. A call can last ten seconds or an hour; both are normal.

Allow your camera
Press the button and accept your browser's request. You see yourself first, so you can fix the light and the framing.
Leave Everyone selected
Under "You are", choose Woman or Man. Under "I want to talk to", Everyone is the free setting. Tick "I'm 18 or older and I accept", then press Start.
Talk, then press Next
When a conversation has run its course, or never really started, press Next. The search starts again straight away.
No login, and nothing to link
The basic chat does not ask you to log in. No email address, no phone number, no password, and no social account to connect. The only permission requested is your camera.
An account only comes in with Premium, an optional extra that lets you talk only to women or only to men and adds Strict mode. Premium requires an e-mail account; the free chat stays free and without one.
Your language first, but not your language only
The interface comes in 20 languages, from English, Spanish and Portuguese to Arabic, Hindi, Japanese and Korean. Matching gives priority to someone who speaks the same language as you. If nobody is available in it, you are still connected to someone, so a quiet hour in your language does not mean an empty screen.
You can also add a few interests under "What you are into". They are optional, and they help place you opposite someone who shares your tastes.
Moderation
Reporting and blocking are on every match. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team. It is a random video chat reserved for adults aged 18 and over.

Every call goes through an encrypted relay
A signalling server introduces two strangers. After that, video and audio go from your device to our relay, then to the other person's device, for every match.
The stream stays end-to-end encrypted by WebRTC: the relay only forwards encrypted packets, and can neither read nor store them. The other person never receives your IP address, only the relay's. The conversation itself is not recorded.

Can I skip someone straight away?
Yes. Next is on screen during every call, and pressing it starts a new search at once.
Do I need to log in?
No. The basic chat needs no account, no email and no phone number, only your camera permission.
Will I be matched with people who speak my language?
Matching gives priority to someone who speaks the same language as you, and connects you to someone else if nobody is available in it.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in the mobile browser with nothing to install, and an Android app is published on Google Play.
Is Roulettly free?
Yes. Random video chat is free and needs no sign-up. Premium, optional, adds a filter to talk only to women or only to men.
Is it moderated?
Yes. Reporting and blocking are on every match and reports are reviewed by our moderation team.
Is my video recorded?
The conversation is not recorded. Video and audio go through our encrypted relay, which only forwards packets it cannot read and stores nothing. Moderation is the exception and covers only your own camera, as the privacy policy explains.
