Looking for a site like Chatrandom? Roulettly is a free random video chat that opens in your browser. You press Start, your camera turns on, and a moment later you are face to face with a stranger. There is no account to create, no email to confirm and no phone number to hand over. The only permission it asks for is the one for your camera.

The idea is to keep the road between you and the first conversation as short as possible. One button to begin, one button to move on to someone else, and report and block buttons on every match. This page walks through what you actually see on Roulettly, screen by screen, so you know what to expect before you press anything.

Why no account changes the experience

Because there is nothing to sign up for, there is nothing to forget and nothing to leak: no password, no profile page to fill in, no email address attached to your conversations. You can open Roulettly on a laptop at lunch, on a phone on the train or on Android, and it behaves the same way each time.

The other person sees only a handful of things: your video, your sound, your nickname if you chose one (the "Your nickname" field is optional), the gender you indicated and the flag of your country. They never see an email address, because there is none, and there is no profile for them to open.

The conversation is not recorded. When the conversation ends, it ends: there is no history to scroll back through and nothing waiting for you in an inbox.

Interests and languages, both optional

The interface comes in 20 languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish, Arabic, Persian, Hindi, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. Matching gives priority to someone who speaks the same language as you, without turning it into a wall: if nobody is around, you still get a conversation.

Interests work the same way. They are optional, and they help place you in front of someone who shares your tastes. Leave the field empty and you are simply matched with whoever is next.

Premium and Strict mode, only if you want them

The chat itself stays free, and you can start it with no card. Premium is a separate, optional plan. It needs an email account, and it adds one thing: "Talk only to women, or only to men." It comes in 1, 6 or 12 months, with no commitment.

Strict mode is part of Premium. Its promise is short: never widen the search. Leave Roulettly in the background and you are notified as soon as someone matches. If you never touch any of this, the free version is complete on its own.

Moderation

Reporting and blocking are on every match. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team. It is a random video chat reserved for adults aged 18 and over.

Every call goes through an encrypted relay

A signalling server introduces two strangers. After that, video and audio go from your device to our relay, then to the other person's device, for every match.

The stream stays end-to-end encrypted by WebRTC: the relay only forwards encrypted packets, and can neither read nor store them. The other person never receives your IP address, only the relay's. The conversation itself is not recorded.

In the browser, or on Android

Roulettly runs in the browser on a computer or a phone, with nothing to install. An Android app is also published on Google Play if you prefer an icon on your home screen. Either way it is the same service, with the same start screen and the same rules for everyone.
