One chat, two ways to open it
If you came here searching for a HOLLA alternative, you probably want a video chat that starts fast on your phone. Roulettly gives you two doors into the same chat.
The first is the Android app, published on Google Play. The second is your browser: open the site on a phone or a computer and you are in, with nothing to download.
Everything below describes Roulettly only. This page does not say anything about any other app or site.
Start in four taps
The same first screen, in the app and in the browser.
Turn on my camera
You see your own preview first, so you can check the light and the framing before anyone sees you.
Say who you are
Under "You are", pick Female or Male. Under "I want to talk to", Everyone is the free choice.
Add a nickname and interests, or skip them
Both are optional. A few words about what you are into help put you in front of someone with similar tastes. Left empty, matching stays fully random.
Press Start
You are connected with someone. Press Next whenever you want to meet somebody else.
On Android
The app is on Google Play and offers the same free random video chat as the website. The page random video chat on Android explains how it works on your phone.
Prefer not to install anything? The browser version runs on the same phone, so you can try the chat first and decide later.
On iPhone and on a computer
On iPhone, Roulettly works in Safari. Details are on the page random video chat on iPhone. On a computer, any recent browser with a webcam is enough.
The interface comes in 20 languages. Matching gives priority to someone who speaks your language, and connects you with someone else if nobody is available in it. Each person's country flag shows during the call.
Every call goes through an encrypted relay
A signalling server introduces two strangers. After that, video and audio go from your device to our relay, then to the other person's device, for every match.
The stream stays end-to-end encrypted by WebRTC: the relay only forwards encrypted packets, and can neither read nor store them. The other person never receives your IP address, only the relay's. The conversation itself is not recorded.
Adults only, with tools on every call
Roulettly is reserved for adults aged 18 and over. Before you start, you tick "I am 18 or older and I accept" the terms.
Next, Report and Block are on every call. The safety page lists the rules and what the moderation team does with reports.
