Video chat with someone new, whenever you feel like it

People who type the name CooMeet into a search bar usually want the same simple thing: a face on the screen, a real conversation, and not much homework before it starts. That is exactly the situation Roulettly is built for. You open the page, switch your camera on, tick the box that says you are 18 or older, and press Start.

There is no profile to fill in and no email address to hand over for the basic chat. The only permission the page asks for is access to your camera, and your browser asks it, not us. It works on a laptop and on a phone, and an Android app is published on Google Play for people who prefer an icon on the home screen.

Every conversation is with a stranger, so nothing is scripted. Some calls are a quick hello and a tap on Next, some turn into half an hour about music, travel or nothing in particular. The Next button is always there, so you never owe anyone a long goodbye.

Choosing who you talk to: the Premium option

Some visitors would rather talk only to women, others only to men. Roulettly offers that as an option called Premium. With it, the "I want to talk to" setting accepts Women or Men instead of Everyone, and a Strict mode keeps the search from widening: you leave Roulettly open in the background and it lets you know the moment someone matches.

Premium needs an e-mail account, because a paid option has to be attached to something. You pick a 1, 6 or 12 month plan, and there is no commitment: you can stop whenever you like. The free chat stays free and does not ask for an account.

The filter works from the gender each person indicates on the first screen. We do not promise you a particular result on any given call. What it does is steer the search in the direction you picked.

Your language, your interests

The interface comes in 20 languages, from English and Spanish to Arabic, Hindi, Japanese and Vietnamese. The matching gives priority to someone who speaks the same language as you, without turning that into a wall: if nobody is available, you are still connected to someone else.

Interests work in the same quiet way. Add a few words about what you like and the matching tries to put you opposite a person with similar tastes, which makes the first ten seconds easier than a bare "hi".

Moderation

Reporting and blocking are on every match. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team. It is a random video chat reserved for adults aged 18 and over.

Every call goes through an encrypted relay

A signalling server introduces two strangers. After that, video and audio go from your device to our relay, then to the other person's device, for every match.

The stream stays end-to-end encrypted by WebRTC: the relay only forwards encrypted packets, and can neither read nor store them. The other person never receives your IP address, only the relay's. The conversation itself is not recorded.

What the other person sees

The other person sees your video, hears your sound, and sees your nickname if you chose one (the field is called "Your nickname" and it is optional), the gender you indicated and the flag of your country. They do not see your e-mail, and there is no profile page to browse.

You can report and block on every meeting. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team, and Roulettly is a random video chat reserved for adults aged 18 and over.
