Talking to strangers is easier with an exit
A call with someone you have never met can go well or badly, and you cannot know in advance. What you can know is how quickly you can leave.
On Roulettly, three controls stay on screen for the whole call: Next, Report and Block. You need no account to use them, and you never owe anyone an explanation.
This page describes Roulettly only. It makes no claim about any other service.
Next, Report, Block: what each one does
Pick the lightest tool that solves the problem.
Next
Ends the call and looks for someone else. Use it when the conversation simply is not working.
Block
Keeps that person away from you. Choose 1 hour, 1 day, 2 days, 7 days or forever. Until the block ends, the two of you are kept apart.
Report
Tells the moderation team what happened. You choose a reason, for example harassment or hate, spam, violence or someone who looks like a minor.
What happens after a report
Reports are not left in a drawer. The moderation team reviews them, and an account reported by several people gets suspended.
You can combine the tools. Report someone for a real problem, then block them so the matching does not bring you back together. The safety page sets out the rules in full.
Moderation
Reporting and blocking are on every match. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team. It is a random video chat reserved for adults aged 18 and over.
More on how Roulettly works.
Know the common trick
A common trick on video chat is sextortion: someone pushes you to undress or share something intimate, then threatens to send it around. The guide video chat scams and sextortion explains how it starts and what to do, and is video chat with strangers safe? covers the wider picture.
The short version: you can press Next, Block or Report at any moment, even in the middle of a sentence.
Every call goes through an encrypted relay
A signalling server introduces two strangers. After that, video and audio go from your device to our relay, then to the other person's device, for every match.
The stream stays end-to-end encrypted by WebRTC: the relay only forwards encrypted packets, and can neither read nor store them. The other person never receives your IP address, only the relay's. The conversation itself is not recorded.
