Looking for something like Chatroulette?
If you typed the name of the classic random video chat, you probably want the gesture it is known for: open a page, see a stranger, say hello or move on. Roulettly is built around exactly that gesture, and around nothing else.
You open the page, you tick the box that says you are 18 or older, you allow the camera, and you press Start. No account, no welcome tour, no profile to fill in. It works on a computer or a phone, in the browser, and there is also an Android app on Google Play.
How to start in a few seconds
Allow your camera
Press "Turn on my camera" and check your own preview. That is the only permission asked: no account, no email, no phone number.
Choose what you want
Pick "You are" and "I want to talk to", add a few interests under "What you are into" if you like, then tick the 18+ box.
Press Start
A stranger appears. Say hello, or press next whenever you want to meet someone else. Report and block are on every match.
Interests and languages, without a wall
The start screen has an optional "What you are into" field. Interests are never required; when you add some, they help place you opposite someone who shares your tastes, whether that is music, football, anime or night-shift small talk.
The interface exists in 20 languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish, Arabic, Persian, Hindi, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. Matching gives priority to someone who speaks your language, without turning it into a barrier: if nobody fits, you still meet someone.
What the other person sees
Your video, your sound, your nickname if you chose one (the "Your nickname" field is optional), the gender you indicated and the flag of your country. Not your email address, and no profile page to fill in beforehand.
You can leave at any moment with the next button. The conversation is not recorded: when the conversation ends, it is gone.
Premium and Strict mode, for those who want more
The free chat stays free and open to everyone. Premium is optional and needs an email account: it lets you talk only to women, or only to men, with plans of 1, 6 or 12 months and no commitment.
Strict mode is part of Premium. It never widens your search: you leave Roulettly in the background and you are notified as soon as someone matches. If you simply want to talk to anyone, you do not need any of this.
Moderation
Reporting and blocking are on every match. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team. It is a random video chat reserved for adults aged 18 and over.
More on how Roulettly works.
Every call goes through an encrypted relay
A signalling server introduces two strangers. After that, video and audio go from your device to our relay, then to the other person's device, for every match.
The stream stays end-to-end encrypted by WebRTC: the relay only forwards encrypted packets, and can neither read nor store them. The other person never receives your IP address, only the relay's. The conversation itself is not recorded.
